Counseling allows individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.
One on one counseling is available as part of the PHP/IOP Group Therapy but is also offered as a monotherapy, by itself. A number of different treatments can address the biological and chemical portion of addiction.
However, individual counseling gives a “Safe Space” to be able to work through the past trauma points that cause or reinforce addiction.
When it becomes personal and you work through the trauma, developing tools to manage and skills to heal, you will find your personal interactions with others.
In general, to become more inviting, manageable, confident, and welcoming to make those connections with others that are at the core of healing and sobriety.
